17 years old and under
A few eye examinations are recommended for children to evaluate the health condition of the eyes and insure their proper development. The first oculo-visual exam should be done between the ages of 6 and 9 months. Then, another examination should be conducted between the ages of 2 and 5. Finally, as soon as the child starts school, it is recommended that annual eye examinations be done. The following symptoms could indicate that your child suffers from a visual disorder: headaches, irritability, constant rubbing or covering of the eyes, avoiding activities that require looking at close or distant objects, etc. If they are not addressed, these impairments could lead to serious diseases.
-
18 to 40 years old
As an adult, many factors can impact your eyesight and lead to gradual vision loss, namely the computer, television and other electronic devices. Time spent in front of such screens can cause serious eyestrain. Moreover, it is important to remember to protect your eyes from UV rays and LED lighting to prevent visual disorders.
-
40 years old and up
Starting at 40 years of age, vision can naturally change. Yearly eye examinations are therefore necessary in order to follow the evolution of these changes and insure good ocular health. You will eventually need corrective lenses, reading glasses or eyeglasses specifically designed for the computer. Moreover, it is important to keep on protecting your eyes from UV rays and LED lighting to prevent visual disorders.
